Glastonbury Healthcare Integrated Medicine Service

We have a keen interest in complementary therapies and support their use in the management of health and disease. Dr Welford is trained in homoeopathic medicine and is a consulting physician at the Bristol Homoeopathic Hospital.

We have an extensive complementary service providing treatment in:

We are very interested in promoting the integration of NHS general practice and complementary medicine, and have established a charitable trust known as The Somerset Trust For Integrated Health Care - Charity Registration Number 1065943.

The aims of the trust are:

1. To provide access to complementary medicine at an affordable rate (currently free for acupuncture and osteopathy, otherwise £10.00 per treatment).

2. To encourage the development of complementary medicine in other general practices.

3. To research and promote the benefits of integrated complementary medicine within the NHS.

National Integrated Health Programme

We are currently participating in this programme in conjunction with the Prince of Wales Foundation for Integrated Health Care and are now able to offer an integrated musculoskeletal pain service for treatment in osteopathy and acupuncture. This is funded by Somerset PCT, with the aim of gradually extending the service across the PCT, should the service prove to be cost-effective.
